Industry 4.0 will be a new dawn for CAE. We will see new uses of CAE that we just start to imagine. The digital product information is easier to access than ever before. The physical input from an industrialized IoT platform increase the opportunities and the value of CAE many times over.
Sensors used to be an afterthought. Today, leading digital engineering of true cyber-physical products design-in virtual sensors already in the functional concept stages. The design solutions to realize these sensors will depend on the CAE modelling and the understanding of the business needs.

This digital and physical convergence leads to Digital-Twin with full transparence of the past, the present and the future. The value of the digital twin with advanced analytics and CAE is mind-boggling.
AR/VR/MR (Augmented/Virtual/Mixed Reality) will provide a better experience and increased our speed to understand CAE results; even with a heterogeneous CAE tool set. The Industry 4.0 leaders will use CAE more integrated over the entire product life cycle. Benefits will be high both for external customers and for internal functions (e.g. engineering, manufacturing and services).

Curriculum

Mr. Eriksson is a Senior Advisor in PTC’s IoT Transformation Advisory Practice.  Kent works with PTC customers and partners to identify and evaluate new IoT-related business opportunities, develop IoT program roadmaps, and optimize business processes with IoT-related systems and tools.

Experience
Prior to rejoining PTC, Mr. Eriksson was with McKinsey’s Operations Practice from 2007 to 2015, consulting to large industrials in product development and manufacturing operations. He previously worked at PTC from 1999 to 2007 as a Solution Architect and PMI-certified project manager for PLM.

Education
Mr. Eriksson holds a M.Sc. in Engineering Physics from Chalmers University of Technology with a thesis on predictions with neural networks and a B.Sc. Business Administration from School of Business, Economics and Law at the University of Gothenburg.
